BID Plymouth Supports PHATS

August 23, 2022

Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital–Plymouth (BID Plymouth), as the region’s leading provider of high-quality healthcare, seeks to improve the health and wellbeing of the communities it serves.  BID Plymouth, a not-for-profit hospital, provides comprehensive healthcare services ranging from acute to primary and preventive care to specialty care. Through collaborations with community leaders, public and private agencies, and businesses, BID Plymouth supports health promotion, health protection and preventive services.

As part of our mission to support community health, BID Plymouth is committed to assessing root causes of health disparities, such as social determinants of health (SDoH), which are conditions that impact people where they live, work and play. The PHATs concept is designed to impact these determinants in the areas of physical (built) environment, employment, education and social environment, as well as encourage healthy lifestyles, which can positively impact chronic disease

The concept aligns perfectly with BID-Plymouth’s desire to positively impact the health of Plymouth and its surrounding communities.  Equally, it is the type of community investment that helps attract new talented staff to the hospital. This shared vision of enhancing the health and wellbeing of those in the community while attracting economic development is the reason that BID Plymouth is in support of the PHATs concept.
